Biography

Yonghoon Lee is an assistant professor in the Department of Management at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

In his research, he studies the role of network and social status/categories in entrepreneurial careers where people need to cultivate their network and craft their work identity on their own—like the careers of creative workers, professionals, corporate directors, and, of course, those in academia. In particular, he studies the predicaments of these careers, including uncertainty, competition, discrimination, and deepening inequality, and how people need to manage their network and work identities to successfully navigate to those challenges. In his studies, he draws on multiple methods, including both archival field data and controlled experiments.

Yonghoon received his PhD in Organisational Behaviour at INSEAD. Before that, he studied for BE & BBA, and MS at Korea University. His research is published at Academy of Management Journal and Organization Science.
