Sujata Visaria is a development economist and Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. She is Director of the Center for Economic Policy. She has a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University, and worked at Boston University for four years before moving to HKUST. Some of her research studies agricultural marketing contracts and credit contracts in rural economies, community-based targeting of microcredit beneficiaries, and the financial constraints of migrant workers. She is an affiliate of the Bureau for the Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD).
