Biography

Xinyu Hua obtained his Ph.D. degree from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is currently an associate professor in the department of economics at HKUST. He also serves as an associate editor at RAND Journal of Economics. His areas of research interests include law and economics, industrial organization, and contract theory. He has been working on topics such as the strategic use of contracts, litigation/settlement, product liability and firm strategies, enforcement of intellectual property rights, consumer data protection, etc. He teaches managerial microeconomics, strategy and organization, and antitrust economics and competition policy at HKUST. He has also provided consulting services for the anti-trust authority in China and some companies.
