Research Affiliate Zhitao YIN Assistant Professor, Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management Zhitao is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business and Management, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research focuses on addressing the following three problems via econometrics as well as computational techniques (e.g., machine learning, natural language processing, network analysis) to provide evidence for the design of algorithmic, business, and policy interventions that can be implemented in the business and public sectors. (1) What are the risks that emerge when human delegate tasks to or collaborate with algorithm-based machines?

Special Advisor to the Director of HKUST Institute for Emerging Market Studies Albert Park is a development and labor economist who is an expert on China’s economic development. He is Chair Professor of Economics, Chair Professor of Social Science, and Professor of Public Policy at HKUST. He has been appointed as Chief Economist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB). His research and commentary has appeared in the Economist, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, China Daily, BBC, CNN, NBC, Bloomberg, Freakonomics, and NPR.

Research Affiliate Hyuncheol Bryant Kim (on leave) Associate Professor, Department of Economics Hyuncheol Bryant Kim is an applied empirical micro-economist focusing on causal impacts of policy interventions in health and education sectors through large scale data analysis and social experiment. The main goal of his research is to understand the fundamental relationship between human capital investment and individual and societal well being in Africa and Asia, which is insufficiently understood. He received an MD from Yonsei University, Korea, MPH from Seoul National University, Korea, and PhD in Economics from Columbia University, USA.

Assistant Professor, HKUST Energy Institute Yatang Lin received her Ph.D. in Economics from London School of Economics in 2017 and joined HKUST in the same year. Her research areas are urban economics and environmental economics.
