The Grand Finale - Hong Kong Economic Policy Challenge 2025
The Grand Finale of the Hong Kong Economic Policy Challenge 2025 (HKEPC) in association with the HKUST Center of Economic Policy and Economics Department comes to a close on May 10th, 2025. HKEPC invites university students to tackle real-world economic issues through innovative policy proposals. It fosters collaboration, critical thinking, and meaningful dialogue on Hong Kong’s economic future.
This year, the competition focuses on a pivotal issue for the future of Hong Kong: Economic diversification.

Congratulations to the winning team
The event was designed to provide students with a platform to apply their economic education and policy ideas to address the economic challenges facing Hong Kong. The judges were impressed with the high-quality proposals and the depth of research that had gone into them, highlighting the importance of collaboration between academia, industry professionals, and government entities to address the city's economic challenges.

"Despite a late start and challenges finding teammates, we created a thoughtful proposal and gained valuable insights from the judges." "HKEPC 2025 was a transformative journey," said Shanqi ZHANG. "We proposed Green Tourism REITs and a Tech Talent Scheme to address Hong Kong’s economic over-reliance and systemic barriers." |
